Castle Flutterstone

Castle Flutterstone

Castle Flutterstone is a game for ages 6 and up, for 2 to 4 players and lasts from 15 to 25 minutes. We just received a batch of this game this week and my daughter and I decided to try it out. There is a little bit of construction that needs to be completed since the game is 3D. The object of the game is to be the first to reach the Magic Trophy space at the top of the castle. Unlike most games the dice are replaced with a bat launcher. Yes, this is where the fun begins! The bats are made of a thin felt so they fly easily through the air. The launcher is a plastic bellows. It looks like a spring board you would see in a gymnastics event. You place a bat on the end and then push the bellows to launch the bat into the air. You might be wondering how the flying bats fit into the game play. Well, if your bat lands in the courtyard you move ahead 1 space. If your bat lands on the castle, you move ahead 2 spaces. And if you are a real hotshot and you can get your bat to fly through one of the open windows of the castle, you move ahead 3 spaces. As with most castles, there is also a moat. If your bat lands in the moat you must take a ghost card. The good ghosts usually help you out. If you get a bad ghost you can play it on another player. They aren’t really that bad. One makes you launch your bats with your other hand. Another makes you launch your bats with your eyes closed. In fact, my daughter seemed to do better with her eyes closed. Both times I played this card on her she managed to launch her bats through the windows. My daughter and I had a lot of fun playing this game together. I would recommend this game for children between the ages of 6 and 10. It has a good mixture of chance and a little bit of skill too.
